Now the “mysterious and spooky” family is complete.
As the Nov. 23 Netflix debut for Wednesday draws ever nearer, one member of the kooky Addams clan has been omitted from most conversations so far. Where’s Uncle Fester, and who will play him this time around?
The lovably eccentric character–with a penchant for powering up light bulbs by popping them in his mouth–has been nowhere to be found. But now, director Tim Burton has shed just a bit of “light” on the subject.
Burton–who also serves as executive producer of the Netflix series–said during a recent interview with Empire that Fester will, indeed, “show up” in the series, but the filmmaker refused to divulge the actor cast in the role. Jackie Coogan famously played the part in the classic ’60s TV series, with Christopher Lloyd taking over in the ’90s feature films.
As for the rest of the cast, Jenna Ortega plays Wednesday, with Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia), Luis Guzman (Gomez), Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley), George Burcea (Lurch) and Victor Dorobantu (the disembodied Thing) rounding out the family.
Wednesday–led by showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar–follows the Addams daughter as she enters Nevermore Academy and “attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago,” according to the synopsis.
