According to a statement from Felix Silla’s representative Bonnie Vent, the actor passed away in Los Angeles on Friday at age 84 following a battle with cancer.
Born in Italy, Felix came to America in 1955 and joined up with Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus as a trapeze artist. He then found his way to Hollywood where he started work as a stuntman in the early 1960’s. After a few small rolls in Bonanza and Petticoat Junction, Silla was cast as Cousin Itt in The Addams Family television series in 1965.
Over the years, he went on to appear in a long list of other films and shows familiar to horror and genre fans including Planet of the Apes, Sssssss, The Manitou, Battlestar Galactica, David Cronenberg’s The Brood, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, House, and a few other titles you may have heard of like Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi and Spaceballs.
Mr. Silla leaves behind his wife Sue and daughter Bonnie and was pre-deceased by one son, Michael.
