Featurette Shows The Making Of The New Pinhead In ‘Hellraiser’

by Thomas Tuna

After the pain comes the pleasure.

As you would expect, it wasn’t easy to transform Jamie Clayton into the new Pinhead for the Hulu reboot of the 1987 classic Hellraiser. And the featurette on this page shows just how grueling the process was.

The actor said it took four hours to complete the painstaking makeup job every day, and another hour to remove it after a long day’s shooting. In addition to the numerous prosthetics that need to be put in place, the suit itself is “very heavy, tight and constricting.” But the finished product, as Clayton put it, is “beautiful”.

This Hellraiser reboot–directed by David Bruckner from a screenplay by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski–also stars Odessa A’zion, Brandon Flynn, Goran Visnjic, Adam Faison, Aolfe Hinds and Hiam Abbass.

The original Hellraiser–from writer/director Clive Barker–deals with a puzzle box that summons the Cenobites, sadomasochistic beings–led by Pinhead–who don’t know the difference between pleasure and pain.
