The fear has run its course.
Fear the Walking Dead–the original spinoff of AMC’s long-running The Walking Dead zombie saga–will wrap up with its eighth season, according to a report in Variety.
The 12-episode Season 8–which started shooting last summer–will debut on AMC May 14. The series is led by showrunners Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg, alongside chief content officer Scott M. Gimple.
In the upcoming season of Fear, Morgan, Madison and the others they brought to the island “are living under P.A.D.R.E.’s cynical rule,” according to the synopsis. “The task of reigniting belief in a better world rests with the person Morgan and Madison set out to rescue in the first place–Morgan’s daughter, Mo.”
The cast–led by the returning Kim Dickens and Lennie James–includes Colman Domingo, Ruben Blades, Danay Garcia, Jenna Elfman, Karen David, Mo Collins, Alexa Nisenson, Christine Evangelista and Austin Arnelio.
Executive producer Michael E. Satrazemis said Season 8 will “reinvent” the series a bit. “Getting a new palette to work with–visually–and a lot of that kind of low country beach areas as a background–that’s something our characters will navigate,” he said.
In related TWD news, the as-yet-untitled spinoff series starring Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira as Rick and Michonne will now debut sometime in 2024. Little is known about the series at this time, but it has been described as an “epic love story.” With, no doubt, zombies thrown in for good measure.
