Netflix has snatched up a trio of films based on works by popular horror writer R.L. Stine. The streaming giant has closed a deal with Disney to acquire a trilogy of Fear Street films based on the bestselling books by R.L. Stine, according to a report by Deadline.
Leigh Janiak who directed episodes of Scream: The TV Series and Outcast helmed all three Fear Street films. The early plan is to run all three films a month apart in the summer of 2021 and will be marketed by Netflix as “The Summer of Fear.”
R.L. Stine started the teenage horror series Fear Street with the book The New Girl, which was published in 1989. Because the series was a success many spin-offs followed such as Fear Street Sagas and Ghosts of Fear Street. As of 2010, over 80 million copies of Fear Street have been sold.
