“You know so little…and I know so much.”

The reboot of the 1986 horror pic Witchboard is making strides towards a 2024 release, and a trailer dropped this week to preview the supernatural scenario to come. Check out the video on this page.

The remake–directed by Chuck Russell (A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors) from a screenplay he wrote with Greg McKay–follows Emily (Madison Iseman) and her fiance Christian (Aaron Dominguez) as they discover a mysterious Wiccan artifact–a pendulum board–when they open a bistro in New Orleans’ French Quarter.

It’s then that “a darkness descends on Emily, as she becomes obsessed with the board’s power of divination and ability to summon spirits,” according to the synopsis.

Trying to help Emily, Christian seeks out occult expert Alexander Babiaste (Jamie Campbell Bower), who has secrets of his own–including a connection to a modern-day coven of witches. And so begins a dangerous game–“as each swing of the pendulum puts Emily’s soul at risk.”

The original Witchboard–written and directed by Kevin Tenney–stars Tawny Kitaen, Stephen Nichols and Todd Allen. Despite poor reviews, the film earned $7.4 million on a $2-million budget and spawned two unrelated sequels–Witchboard 2: The Devil’s Doorway (1993) and Witchboard III: The Possession (1995).
