The dead are clinging to life…barely.
Evil Dead Rise continued its slow slide down the domestic box office charts this weekend, placing fifth against formidable competition–including the debut of Fast X and the strength of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Super Mario Bros.
Still and all, in its fifth weekend, the latest (and most successful) chapter in the Evil Dead franchise earned a respectable $2.4 million from 2,170 theaters, bringing its domestic total to more than $64 million, according to a report on Deadline. The film had already eclipsed the $100-million mark globally.
Evil Dead Rise–from writer/director Lee Cronin–follows Beth (Lily Sullivan) when she visits her older sister Ellie (Alyssa Sutherland) in Los Angeles. But things take a horrific turn when the sisters discover a mysterious book deep in Ellie’s building–a book that unleashes a horde of demons and forces Beth to fight for her life.
