Keeping it in the family?
Lee Cronin–who wrote and directed Evil Dead Rise (which opens in theaters today)–is looking ahead to his filmmaking future–and that may include another classic franchise.
Cronin–in a recent interview with comicbook.com–admitted he didn’t want to become a “franchise refreshment director,” but there are two popular series he would like to try his hand at. “There’s two things,” he said, “and they’re totally different.”
The director said, “I’d find it very difficult to not have a stab in The Lord of the Rings world because I’m a big fan. I think I could create something on that large canvas.”
But, turning his focus to the horror genre, Cronin added “the one I would find really hard to pass up would be something in the A Nightmare on Elm Street universe.”
If that doesn’t pan out, would he consider another Evil Dead installment? “I think everything’s on the table at this point,” Cronin said. “Let’s see how audiences react to (this one). I definitely have stories I feel I could tell inside this universe.”
