Here’s hysterical news.
Bruce Campbell–an Evil Dead legacy star and producer of the recently released Evil Dead Rise–is expanding his genre portfolio with a recurring role in the upcoming Peacock satanic thriller Hysteria!, according to a report in Variety.
Campbell will play Chief Dandridge, a small-town police chief “whose understanding of his community is put to the test after a disturbing series of murders, disappearances and unexplained phenomena.”
The veteran actor joins Anna Camp, Emjay Anthony, Chiara Aurelia, Kezii Curtis, Nikki Hahn and Julie Bowen in the horror series written by showrunner David A. Goodman. The series does not yet have a debut date.
Jordan Vogt-Roberts will direct the first episode, with John Francis Daley, Matthew Scott Kane and Jonathan Goldstein serving as executive producers.
The series deals with the disappearance of a varsity quarterback during the Satanic Panic of the late 1980s and a heavy metal band that capitalizes on the craze.
But then, “a bizarre series of kidnappings and supernatural activity triggers a witch hunt that leads back to the band.”
