Oscar-nominated actor Ethan Hawke is “sharpening” his already-impressive resume with a part in the upcoming Knives Out sequel.
Hawke recently joined the cast of Knives Out 2–an ensemble led by the returning Daniel Craig as Det. Benoit Blanc–as the film shoots in Greece, as reported by cbr.com. Photos have shown Hawke in action with Craig, Dave Bautista, Kate Hudson and Leslie Odom Jr.
The Netflix film–written and directed by Rian Johnson–also stars Edward Norton, Janelle Monae, Kathryn Hahn, Madelyn Cline and Jessica Yu Li Henwick. No debut date for the sequel has yet been announced.
Hawke has been expanding his genre repertoire as of late, having recently joined Oscar Isaac in Marvel’s upcoming Moon Knight series for Disney+ in an undisclosed villainous role. He also is starring in Blumhouse Production’s The Black Phone–helmed by Scott Derrickson–that is slated for a Jan. 28, 2022 release.
The original 2019 Knives Out–also written and directed by Johnson–follows a master detective investigating the death of the patriarch of a wealthy, dysfunctional family. The stellar ensemble cast includes Craig, Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Plummer. The film–which received high marks from critics–grossed $311.4 million worldwide on a $40-million budget.
