Imagine you’re trapped in a speeding subway car (Manhattan residents can empathize here) and someone is trying to kill you. That’s pretty much the gist of the brief clip dropped this week for Escape Room: Tournament of Champions.

The sequel to the 2019 psychological horror hit will debut in theaters in just two weeks–July 16–as reported by screenrant.com, and the frightening teaser on this page will definitely get fans in the mood for some eerie fun ‘n games.

The PG-rated sequel follows six people “unwittingly locked in another series of escape rooms, slowly uncovering what they have in common to survive–and discovering they’ve all played the game before,” according to the official synopsis.

The Sony Pictures film–from returning director Adam Robitel and screenwriters Maria Melnik, Will Honley, Oren Uziel and Daniel Tuch–will feature Logan Miller and Taylor Russell reprising their roles from the original. Joining them in the cast are Holland Roden, Indya Moore, Thomas Cocquerel, Carlito Olivero and Isabelle Fuhrman.

The original Escape Room told the terrifying story of six other strangers trapped in “a maze of deadly mystery rooms.” In order to see another day, they must “use their wits to survive a sadistic game of life and death.” Horror fans loved the premise. The movie raked in $156 million worldwide on a budget of just $9 million.
