Content creator Mark Fischbach–known online as Markiplier–is financing, producing, writing, directing and starring in a film adaptation of the 2022 bestselling submarine horror game Iron Lung, according to a report on Deadline.

The project–currently shooting in Austin, Tex.–is shrouded in mystery at this early stage, but Caroline Rose Kaplan (The Plot Against America) reportedly is also in the cast.

Will Hyde and Jeff Guerrero are joining Markiplier as producers on the film.

Iron Lung–a first-person immersion horror game–was developed by David Szymanski. The player controls an unnamed convict who explores an ocean of blood on a desolate moon in a rusty submarine. Released last March for Microsoft Windows, the game enjoyed positive reviews.

Markiplier is an American YouTuber who mainly uploads gaming content. He has established himself on YouTube with Let’s Plays of such survival horror games as Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Five Nights at Freddy’s.
