‘Round and ’round they go.

The cast of Twisters–the aptly named sequel to the 1996 disaster thriller–is growing by leaps and bounds, with eight new actors this week signing on for the new adventures, according to a report on Deadline.

Maura Tierney (The Affair), Harry Hadden-Paton (Downton Abbey), Sasha Lane (American Honey), Kiernan Shipka (Mad Men), Nik Dodani (Atypical), David Corenswet (Pearl), Tunde Adebimpe (Spider-Man: Homecoming) and Katy O’Brian (The Mandalorian) have joined Brandon Perea, Anthony Ramos, Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar Jones in the film from Amblin Entertainment and Universal Pictures.

The film–slated for a July 19, 2024 theatrical release–is directed by Lee Isaac Chung from a screenplay by Mark L. Smith. Storyline details have not been released, but the sequel reportedly will be a “new chapter” for the original film.

The original Twister–directed by Jan de Bont from a screenplay by Michael Crichton and Anne-Marie Martin–stars Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton, Cary Elwes and Philip Seymour Hoffman as a group of amateur storm chasers trying to deploy a tornado research device during a dangerous Oklahoma storm.
