Eerie Clip Drops For ‘DASHCAM’ From ‘Host’ Director Rob Savage

by Thomas Tuna

A different view of horror is coming this summer.

DASHCAM–the second horror feature from Rob Savage–will land in theaters and on-demand June 3, and a jump-scare teaser was unveiled this week to get the juices flowing. Check out the video–courtesy of collider.com–on this page.

Savage–the man behind the 2020 sleeper hit Host (shot during the height of the pandemic on a group Zoom call)–depicts his frightening story in a very unique way, as evidenced in the clip. Savage also wrote the screenplay with Gemma Hurley and Jed Shepherd.

DASHCAM–which premiered at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival before hitting the BFI London Film Festival and Sitges to positive reviews–stars Annie Hardy, Angela Enahoro and Amar Chadha-Patel.

The film–produced by Savage, Jason Blum and Douglas Cox–is set during a pandemic lockdown, and follows musician Annie as she escapes to the UK to visit her old bandmate Stretch, according to the synopsis. But her arrival causes chaos when she tags along on his food delivery job.

At one point, Annie even runs off with Stretch’s car and phone, taking over his food delivery route. That’s when she meets up with a stranger–an elderly woman named Angela–who is being followed by someone.

Annie agrees to take Angela to a safe address outside of town, but Annie and Stretch “soon find themselves caught up in a twisted plan with sinister forces at work. And, as the night progresses and the chaos builds, they must fight for their lives against a supernatural creature intent on making Annie its new host.”
