DVD & Blu-ray Releases: September 16, 2014

By: Sean Brickley

Another decent release week here at Horror News Network.  First things first, two of my favorite horror movies of all time are getting special anniversary edition releases this week.  The Texas Chainsaw Massacre celebrates its 40th anniversary with a new special edition 4 disc Blu-ray with 7.1 surround sound that is loaded with extra features.  In addition to that is the 30th anniversary Blu-ray release of Silent Night, Deadly Night.  On the slightly more comedic end of things, there’s a whole bunch of activity this week on the Ghostbutsers front.  Not only are both movies being released individually on 4K scan Blu-ray, there are also two sets of both movies available as well.  One of the sets is limited edition and has a bunch of extra cool stuff in it.  Also be sure to check out the first season of From Dusk Til Dawn!  Pleasant viewing, fiends.

On its opening weekend, the film outgrossed Wes Craven’s landmark slasher A Nightmare on Elm Street, which also opened the same day. That film was Silent Night, Deadly Night.
