“There are some rules you gotta follow.”

The Last of Us–the HBO Max adaptation of the Naughty Dog video game series that horror fans have been clamoring for–is just a week away now, and a brand-new TV spot has dropped (check it out on this page) that shows Joel outlining the rules for survival to young Ellie.

The 10-episode first season–led  by series creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann–starts its run next Sunday, Jan. 15.

The show is set years after a plague has wiped out much of humanity, transforming many into vicious zombie-like monsters. In this hellish environment, Joel (Pedro Pascal), a smuggler trying to survive in these impossible times, meets Ellie (Bella Ramsey), and the duo takes off across the wasteland that is the U.S.–with monsters dogging their every step.

The series also stars Gabriel Luna as Joel’s kid brother Tommy; Merle Dandridge as Marlene, leader of the resistance movement called the Fireflies; Jeffrey Pierce as Perry, a rebel in the quarantine zone; Anna Tory as Tess, Joel’s smuggling partner; Lamar Johnson as Henry; and Kelvonn Woodard as Sam.

The ensemble is rounded out by Nick Offerman, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker.
