Not all voyages end well.
The Last Voyage of the Demeter–the Dreamworks/Universal horror film based on one chapter of Bram Stoker’s Dracula–has not performed well at the box office since opening last weekend, and is already heading to on-demand.
The film–which has pulled in just $9 million so far against its $45-million budget–will be available on digital video-on-demand Aug. 29.
Directed by Andre Ovredal, the feature stars Javier Botet as Dracula and follows the merchant ship Demeter on its journey to London–bearing 50 unmarked wooden crates. But one of those boxes is not empty, as the crew soon learns to its utter dismay.
The cast is rounded out by Corey Hawkins, Aisling Franciosi, Liam Cunningham, David Dastmalchian, Jo Jo Briones, Stefan Kapicic and Nikolai Nikolaeff.
