Don Mancini Hopes To Expand ‘Chucky’ To The Big Screen

Will Chucky slash his way back to the Silver Screen?

The second season of the hit Chucky series kicked off on Syfy and USA last week, and head honcho Don Mancini already has bigger and bolder plans for the not-so-good guy.

During a recent interview with TV Insider, Mancini said he wants to continue with the small-screen misadventures, but also has his eyes on the big screen. “I hope to be able to continue with the TV show as long as people want to see it–because I really love the format–but I would also like to do more movies,” he said.

Mancini added that the two formats are “not mutually exclusive. I think they can exist–just as Marvel characters do–in both media. So, that’s my hope. It’s ultimately down to the fans, and from what I’ve heard from people about the first two episodes (of Season 2), it seems like people are enjoying it.”

In the meantime, Chucky 2–which draws inspiration from the Child’s Play film franchise–finds the killer doll out for revenge against those who would thwart him–Jake Wheeler (Zackary Arthur), Devon Evans (Bjorgvin Arnarson) and Lexy Cross (Alyvia Alyn Lind)–now in a Catholic reformatory school–and his ex, Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly).

The series also stars Brad Dourif (as the voice of Chucky), Barbara Alyn Woods, Alex Vincent and Christine Elise–along with Devon Sawa, Lara Jean Chorostecki and Joe Pantoliano.
