Djimon Hounsou to Replace Brian Tyree Henry in ‘A Quiet Place 2’

Just in from The Wrap, Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond, In America, Shazam!) has joined the highly-anticipated sequel A Quiet Place 2 replacing Brian Tyree Henry who left the project due to scheduling conflicts.

Hounsou, whose upcoming projects also include Charlie’s Angels, The King’s Man, and the TV series What If…?, joins Emily Blunt, who returns for the sequel alongside cast members Noah Jupe (Suburbicon, Wonder) and Millicent Simmonds (Wonderstruck), with John Krasinski who will write and direct again. Golden Globe nominee Cillian Murphy (Breakfast on Pluto, Peaky Blinders) will also star in the sequel, set for release on March 20, 2020.

2018’s A Quiet Place released in theaters in April of that year and grossed over $334 million worldwide on a budget of $17 million.

In the post-apocalyptic horror thriller, a family of four must navigate their lives in silence after mysterious creatures that hunt by sound threaten their lives. What they hear, they hunt. Silence is survival.

A Quiet Place 2 is produced by Michael Bay (The Transformers franchise) and his Platinum Dunes partners Andrew Form and Brad Fuller (Ouija, The Purge, Texas Chainsaw Massacre).

Since Mark was four years old he has always loved the horror genre, even when his mother would be a good parent and not let him watch such films. It was when he would sneak into the Horror section at the video store called Tommy K's that he would see all of the VHS covers of classics like Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street. During his time as a journalism major and news staff writer at Southern CT State University, he had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing paranormal investigator Lorraine Warren before a seminar in 2009 at the Lyman Center on campus.
