Beauty may have killed the beast, but Disney is bringing him back.
Disney Branded Television is in the early stages of developing a King Kong series for Disney+, according to a report on Deadline.
This first-ever live-action TV series set in the Kong universe will be produced by James Wan and his Atomic Monster production company. Wan may also direct some of the episodes.
The proposed series–written by Stephany Folsom (Paper Girls)–is described as a “serialized adventure drama that brings the classic monster story into the modern age–with a return to Skull Island and the dawn of a new Kong.”
The show will explore “the mythology of Kong’s origin and the supernatural mysteries of his home,” based on Merian C. Cooper’s original story for the 1933 classic King Kong and the new King Kong novelizations by Joe DeVito.
