The Sanderson Sisters are going for a three-peat.
The Disney Hocus Pocus film franchise–which kicked off back in 1993–will continue on its merry (and spooky) way, according to a report in The New York Times.
Hocus Pocus 2–which proved to be the No. 1 domestic film debut on Disney+ at the rime of its release last September–will lead to another sequel. When asked about the future of the series, Sean Bailey, president of Walt Disney Pictures, recently told The Times, “Yes, Hocus Pocus 3 is happening.” Terse and to the point.
The first two films have starred Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as the witchy Sanderson Sisters and, even though nothing is known at this early stage about casting or production schedules, the odds are good that every effort will be made to reunite the trio.
Last year’s sequel–directed by Anne Fletcher from a screenplay by Jen D’Angelo–follows three high school students as they try to stop the witches “from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before midnight on All Hallow’s Eve.”
