Denis Villeneuve to Direct ‘Blade Runner’ Sequel

Denis Villeneuve, who directed ‘Prisoners’, will direct the upcoming ‘Blade Runner’ sequel from Alcon Entertainment. Harrison ford is in talks to return to his role as Rick Decard. Principle photography on the film is set to start in summer 2016. Michael Green and Hampton Fancher, who co-wrote the first film, have co-written the screen play. The story is about a man (Ford) who is employed as a blade runner, destroying machines, otherwrise known as replicants, and takes place decades following the original 1982 film. Alcon Entertainment bought the rights to ‘Blade Runner’ in 2011 with the plan to make more films. Bud Yorkin, Adrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson are producing, along with CEOs of Thunderbird Films, Frank Giustra and Tim Gamble, who are executive producing.
