And you thought the Grinch was bad.
XYZ Films plans to release The Mean One--a bizarre take on the Christmas classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas–free online during the height of the yuletide season, according to a report on Deadline. Check out the first-look image of the pic on this page.
In this slasher parody from director Steven LaMorte and screenwriters Flip and Finn Kobler, David Howard Thornton (Art the Clown from the Terrifier franchise) is a “hairy, green-skinned grump in a Santa suit, living on a mountain high above the town of Frazier Park, despising the holiday season,” according to the synopsis.
Down in the village, young Cindy You-Know-Who (Krystle Martin), “whose parents were butchered by The Mean One 20 Christmases earlier, is returning to the town to seek closure.” You can almost hear Boris Karloff narrating this, right?
Also participating in this festive holiday film–slated to hit platforms (unknown at this time) Dec. 15–are Chase Mullins, John Bigham, Erik Baker and Amy Schumacher.
Alex Williams of XYZ Films called the film a “stunningly great time, with a ferociously subversive turn from David Howard Thornton” and a “soon-to-be iconic Christmas slasher.” That is, after all, the reason for the season.
