This is a case when fiction imitates real life.

Dark Night of the Soul–a new horror thriller from Dreamality Entertainment–this week signed a genre actor as its lead, according to a report on Deadline.

Rachel Nichols–who will be seen in the upcoming Netflix horror film The Last Will and Testament of Charles Abernathy–will headline the new movie. She’s also known for her roles in the Continuum TV series, the 2009 Star Trek feature and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.

Dark Night of the Soul–written and directed by S.J. Creazzo (Skipping Stones)–will follow a brilliant scientist (Nichols) who gets trapped in her car following a horrific crash, according to the synopsis. “Isolated and struggling to carry on, her survival is essential because she holds the key to a cure for a pandemic ravaging the world.”

The film–scheduled to start shooting this fall in upstate New York–does not yet have a release window. No further details on casting were provided.
