Dark Horse Comics will release two monstrous collections this November.
First up, on November 7th, is the trade Hellboy in Love which finds Hellboy and Anastasia Bransfield taking on goblins, ghost, and spirits. The trade paperback collects the acclaimed mini-series by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola and cowriter Christopher Golden. Joining the writing duo on this story of occult adventure and unlikely romance are industry veterans Matt Smith who’s handling the art duties, Chris O’Halloran doing the coloring, and letters by Clem Robins.
Next up is Volume 8 of the B.P.R.D. Omnibus which is also launching on November 7th. This collection follows the B.P.R.D. in their battle against the apocalyptic Ogdru Hem from Japan to America. Agent Ted Howard and his team of agents find themselves attempting to liberate a small town that holds secrets from Howards Hyperborean past. Elsewhere, B.P.R.D. field agent Ashley Strode attempts to purge a demon from a 100-year-old exorcist, setting her on a path to battling a demon who is kidnapping and eating children.
As if Mike Mignola wasn’t busy enough, he and award-winning colorist Dave Stewart, and celebrated novelist Lemony Snicket (A Series of Unfortunate Events) are teaming up with Beehive Books for an illustrated and annotated edition of Carlo Collodi’s classic novel PINOCCHIO. This all-new, deluxe hardcover edition includes exquisite original illustrations from Mignola, which breathe new life to the charm, gloom, and chaos of the seminal novel, alongside over 100 full text annotations by Snicket, presented as slipped-in typewritten sheets produced by Snicket during his Pinocchio-induced descent into madness.
The project is part of Beehive Book’s acclaimed Illuminated Editions imprint, the Philadelphia-based company’s distinctive line of book art editions of literary classics which reimagine literary masterworks with all-new covers and illustrations from the world’s greatest graphic artists. Beehive Books is now crowdfunding the PINOCCHIO: The Illuminated Edition on Kickstarter.
