Danny Pudi To Star in NBC’s ‘Strange Calls’

‘Community’ star Danny Pudi has been cast in the upcoming horror comedy pilot ‘Strange Calls’ from NBC. Based on the Australian single-camera format, the show takes place in the rural town of Coolum, where a around an unlucky young police officer, named Toby (Pudi), with a poor arrest record is transferred. He is partnered with a strange elderly man named Gregor, who convinces him that the town is home to bizarre supernatural activity. Patrick Brammall, who was in the original series, is returning as Sergeant Lloyd. Blake McCormick (Cougar Town) is scripting the pilot, which is to be executive produced by 20th Century Fox Television, Kapital Entertainment, Hoodlum entry, Aaron Kaplan, Tracey Robertson, Nathan Mayfield and Jason Winer. Winer will also be directing the pilot.
