Everyone knows Danny DeVito is a devilishly good actor, but now he has the chance to REALLY prove himself.
The diminutive Emmy-winner will give voice to Satan himself in a new half-hour horror/comedy animated series, Little Demon, airing on FX Networks, according to Deadline.
The animated feature, which also stars DeVito’s daughter Lucy and Aubrey Plaza, stems from DeVito’s Jersey Films 2nd Avenue, ShadowMachine and FX Productions.
No timetable for the show’s release was announced, but production reportedly will start by the end of April. The series was created by Darcy Fowler, Seth Kirschner and Kieran Valla.
The new series has a long laundry list of executive producers, including Dan Harmon; Fowler; Kirschner; Valla; Plaza; Jake, Lucy and Danny DeVito; and Monica Mitchell, Corey Campodonico and Alex Bulkley. Steve Levy will be the project’s producer.
Little Demon, as explained, tells the story of a woman (Plaza) who was impregnated 13 years before by Satan (Danny DeVito), who exerts all his demonic power to gain custody of the soul of the unlikely couple’s Antichrist daughter (Lucy DeVito). Ouch!
FX Networks reportedly has been on the lookout for another animated series to follow on the heels of its hit Archer, which has shifted locales to FXX. Little Demon reportedly has been simmering on the back burner since last summer, and now is ready to serve.
The network is moving ahead with the show’s pilot when many of Hollywood’s live-action series are on hold due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
