Damien Lewis To Lead Cast Of Horror-Comedy ‘The Radleys’

Meet the vampire family with no bite.

The Radleys–a new horror-comedy from Genesius Pictures–has landed its lead and will start shooting in the UK next May, according to a report on Deadline.

Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Damian Lewis (Billions) will star in the film that’s adapted from the Matt Haig novel of the same name. Euros Lyn (Heartstopper) will direct from a screenplay by Talitha Stevenson that’s based on a script by Jo Brand.

The Radleys follows a seemingly ordinary family who are–in fact–vampires, but only parents Helen and Peter (Lewis) know their true nature, according to the synopsis.

The family members are “abstainers”–meaning they choose not to drink blood despite their natural cravings. Teenagers Clara and Rowan have no idea of their true selves until one night when Clara is attacked by a classmate “and her bloodthirsty instincts take over, forcing her parents to reveal the truth.”

Rowan then feels the temptation to taste blood grow stronger, and the arrival of his uncle Will (Lewis again)–Peter’s twin brother and a practicing vampire–“pulls back the curtain on his vampiric life of hedonism and freedom.”
