‘Cuckoo’ Changes Cast, Wraps Production In Germany

by Thomas Tuna

Cuckoo will fly into theaters next year.

The Neon horror flick recently changed up its cast around its lead and wrapped shooting in Germany ahead of its projected release window sometime in 2023, according to a report in Variety.

When Horror News Network first reported on Cuckoo back in August 2021, the cast was led by Hunter Schafer (Euphoria), along with John Malkovich and Gemma Chan. Schafer is still in place, but both Malkovich and Chan were forced to drop out of the movie due to “timing issues.”

Schafer is now joined in the cast by Dan Stevens (the upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong sequel), Jessica Henwick (Matrix: Resurrections), Marton Csokas, (The Last Duel), Jan Bluthardt (Tatort) and Greta Fernandez (A Thief’s Daughter).

Cuckoo–written and directed by Tilman Singer (Luz)–has been shrouded in mystery for the last year, with no plot details being revealed. All that is known is that it’s a horror film. That’s not much but, with production on the film now complete, expect some details to be forthcoming soon.
