Crossover Film Of ‘Insidious’, ‘Sinister’ Not Ready Yet

Some marriages just need more work.

A crossover film involving the fan-favorite horror pics Insidious and Sinister has been in the rumor mill for several years now, but, according to producer Jason Blum, it’s not something fans should look for anytime soon.

Blum–during a recent interview with Cinepop–acknowledged that such a crossover “would be fun, but we need to find the right story. We developed it for a while, but we could never think of a big movie.”

Blum added he doesn’t want to make a film just for the sake of combining the two movies. “I want to make a movie that really feels good,” Blum said. “We never had a great idea, but I’m up for it.”

Insidious–the 2010 film from director James Wan and screenwriter Leigh Whannell–stars Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne, and kickstarted the successful Insidious franchise. As all fans know, the movie follows a married couple whose boy slips into a comatose state and becomes a vessel for demons in an astral plane.

Sinister–a 2012 feature directed by Scott Derrickson from a screenplay he wrote with C. Robert Cargill–stars Ethan Hawke as a true-crime writer whose discovery of gruesome snuff films puts his family in danger.
