Courteney Cox: Next ‘Scream’ Script, Filming Start Set

by Thomas Tuna

Courteney Cox is officially back for another go-round with Ghostface.

The woman behind Gale Weathers in every entry of the popular Scream film franchise will return for the next movie, as reported by screenrant.com, and she also confirmed that the script has been written and shooting will start in June.

Things seem to be moving quickly toward Scream 6 (or whatever it will be called), which is hardly surprising given the positive reaction from fans and critics to the previous Scream.

Appearing on the Just For Variety podcast, Cox spilled the beans on the progress made on the upcoming movie. “I got the script yesterday,” she said. “I haven’t read it yet–I just got it. I’m excited to read it.”

Cox added that filming will start in Canada this June, and then joked, “I don’t know if I’m supposed to say anything. Let me tell you the killer!”

So, if Gale Weathers is back on board, can Neve Campbell’s iconic Sidney Prescott be far behind? No word yet, but fans have their fingers crossed.

The next Scream will again be helmed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, working from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. The directors said in a statement that working on the franchise has been “the thrill of a lifetime, and we’re so excited to bring the next chapter in the Scream saga to life.”
