Never say never…especially when it comes to horror franchises.
A recent tweet from one of the Spiral: From the Book of Saw screenwriters hinted at a possible return of the infamous Jigsaw Killer, John Kramer, in the next Saw film.
It looks like the script for the next movie is nearly complete, according to a report on comicbook.com, and the tweet and accompanying photo on this page should make fans of the franchise eager for the next shoe to drop.
Back with my horror family, polishing up the next @Saw script. I could tell you There will be ?, but you know that already. What I can promise you is that this is gonna make John Kramer fans very happy!!! pic.twitter.com/zrtQIrerJs

The photo shows Josh Stolberg with his co-author Peter Goldfinger–and producers Oren Koules and Mark Burg–and they all look very pleased with themselves. Stolberg wrote the collaborators were “polishing up the next Saw script. There will be blood, but you know that already. What I can promise you is that this is gonna make John Kramer fans very happy!”
What that means is up for speculation–especially since Jigsaw (played by Tobin Bell) was apparently killed back in Saw III, and all his appearance since then have been in flashbacks. Of course, the character did make a “cameo” in a quick shot of a photo on an evidence table in Spiral, so who knows?
Spiral–the ninth film in the classic Saw franchise–hit theaters earlier this year to mixed reviews from critics. The movie–directed by Darren Lynn Bousman and starring Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson–follows police efforts to stop a Jigsaw copycat killer.
The original 2004 Saw–directed by James Wan from a screenplay by Leigh Whannell–dealt with the mystery of the Jigsaw Killer, who tested his victims’ will to live by subjecting them to deadly games where they must inflict pain on themselves to survive.
