‘Consecration’ Hits Theaters, Shudder Sometime Next Year

by Jayson Drury

Those church shadows may conceal more than you can imagine.

Consecration–a supernatural thriller from AGC Studios–will hit theaters sometime in 2023 (exact release date to come) and land on Shudder soon after that, according to a report on Variety.

The horror pic–directed by Christopher Smith (Triangle) from a screenplay he wrote with Laurie Cook (The Banishing)–is produced by Xavier Marchand (Insidious: Chapter 3) and Jason Newmark (The Banishing).

Starring Jenna Malone (The Hunger Games), Danny Huston (Children of Men) and Janet Suzman (Nicolas and Alexandra), Consecration follows Grace (Malone) as she travels to a convent in Scotland to investigate the death of her brother, a priest, according to the synopsis.

When she arrives, Father Romero (Huston) helps in her search, but that leads to uncovering a secret that may implicate the church in murder and even sacrilege–all of which seems to be tied to Grace’s own disturbing past.
