Comic-Con Special Edition 2021

Comic-Con Special Edition (CCSE) is this weekend, November 26-28, 2021 at the San Diego Convention Center. This event is under the umbrella of Comic-Con International (CCI), best known for the San Diego Comic-Con mega-event that we are accustomed to seeing each year. After not being able to hold a large, in-person event in either July 2020 or July 2021, CCI opted to hold this smaller, shorter event in November over Thanksgiving weekend. All of the things fans enjoy (such as panels, exhibitors, exclusives, off-sites, and special guests) will be there, but on a smaller scale than previous years.

CCI noted on their website that their “primary hope was to finally be able to gather in person as a community, something we have not been able to do since 2019. Another was to try to determine how best to safely produce events in light of current health concerns with the least negative impact on attendees.” As would be expected, a number of health and safety protocols are in place, including mask-wearing and the requirement of proof of vaccination or a recent negative COVID-19 test. CCI appears to still planning their large summer event so CCSE should provide good data on managing a large event in these times.

As usual, horror will be well represented. Horror News Network Contributors Stephanie Shamblin Gray and Brian Gray will be there covering the event. At the time of this writing tickets are still available. Visit https://www.comic-con.org/ccse for more information.
