San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) is July 20 through July 23 this year with a Preview Night on July 19. For anyone wondering if the SAG-AFTRA and Writers Guild of America (WGA) strikes are affecting the convention, the answer is – absolutely. There had been some concern from the fans when the WGA went on strike in May that the writers would not be able to attend the convention in July. Then on July 14, approximately a week before the convention, the screen actors in SAG-AFTRA went on strike. To state simply how this affects the convention, the strike rules prevent the actors and writers from promoting studio projects which as many people know is a large component of SDCC. Many panels and signings that were previously announced were cancelled in the past week or updated to remove mention of the cast from the description. Fortunately for fans and attendees of the event, there are still hundreds of other panels, activations, and events to enjoy while in San Diego. More importantly, there is still a great representation of horror this year. Stay tuned for our coverage of the event and enjoy the photos from in and around SDCC.
