Cliff Emmich–‘Halloween II’– Passes Away At Age 85

by Thomas Tuna

Veteran character actor Cliff Emmich–perhaps best known to genre fans for his role in Halloween II–has passed away following a battle against lung cancer, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Emmich was 85.

Emmich began his career in the 1960s (his first role was an uncredited appearance), and he quickly became a fixture in several features—mostly playing security guards, police officers or truck drivers.

His star began to rise with a role as a driver in 1973’s Payday and as a security guard in Clint Eastwood’s 1974 Thunderbolt and Lightfoot. He made his mark on the horror genre in 1981 as Mr. Garrett, a security guard in Halloween II–even falling victim to the rage of Michael Myers himself. Emmich also appeared in such horror pics as Hellhole (1984) and Return to Horror High (1987).

Emmich also had parts in such genre TV series as The Incredible Hulk, Strike Force and Knight Rider, and such popular offerings as Baywatch, Murder, She Wrote and Fantasy Island.

Emmich is survived by nephews Chuck, Mark and James; and niece Shirley.

The staff of Horror News Network extends its condolences to Emmich’s family, friends and colleagues.
