Is he friend or foe this time?

Chiwetel Ejiofor–known to genre fans as Mordo in the Doctor Strange film franchise–will now co-star with Tom Hardy in Venom 3 from Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, according to a report on Deadline.

The third entry in the horror/super-hero series–which also stars Emmy Award nominee Juno Temple–is directed by Kelly Marcel (who wrote and produced the first two films) from a screenplay she wrote with Hardy.

The new film’s storyline has not yet been revealed, but what is known is that Hardy will reprise his dual role of Eddie Brock/Venom, and that it may be the final chapter in the franchise–at least the last Venom film with Hardy as the lead. No release window has been announced.

The second film in the franchise–Venom: Let There Be Carnage–follows Brock’s battle with serial killer Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson) after he becomes the host of the symbiote Carnage. The movie proved to be a box office bonanza–earning more than $500 million worldwide on a $110-million budget.
