Chilling Trailer For ‘Glorious’ Drops Before Shudder Debut

Now, this is one big favor…

Glorious–a horror thriller inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft–lands on Shudder Aug. 18, and the first full trailer has arrived. Check out the startling video–courtesy of Entertainment Weekly–on this page.

The film–directed by Rebekah McKendry (Tales of Halloween) from a screenplay by Todd Rigney, Joshua Hull and David Ian McKendry–finds a hungover traveler named Wes (Ryan Kwanten) who is “spiraling out of control after a bad breakup,” according to the synopsis.

“He is definitely down on his luck when the movie opens,” McKendry said. “He just had some type of falling out with his girlfriend and has driven, with all his worldly possessions in tow, until he gets to a rest stop, where he decides to get drunk and burn everything.”

The next morning, McKendry explained, “he rushes to the bathroom to throw up and there is a god (voiced by J.K. Simmons) in the stall next to him–and the god has a favor to ask.”

McKendry added that the film is “a wild mix of horror, humor and heady moralistic concepts about our existential realizations of who we really are–forcing us to stare into our own personal abyss. And sometimes, the abyss stares back–and maybe has a favor to ask.”

Shudder general manager Craig Engler said Glorious “brings Lovecraftian horror to a place it’s never been before–a rest stop men’s room. The cast and crew have created an inventive and original cosmic horror that manages to be both darkly hilarious and profoundly personal.”
