Chilling Adventures of Sabrina #1 Review
Writer: Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa
Artist: Robert Hack
Publisher: Archie Comics
Rating 8/10

Synopsis: Terror is born anew in this dark reimagining of Sabrina the Teenage Witch’s origin. On the eve of her sixteenth birthday, the young sorceress finds herself at a crossroads, having to choose between an unearthly destiny and her mortal boyfriend, Harvey. But a foe from her family’s past has arrived in Greendale, Madame Satan, and she has her own deadly agenda.

Our Thoughts: After much hype, Archie’s second horror title has arrived. The title focuses on the witch, Sabrina. Forget everything you may know about the character as her back-story has been retooled by the talented cast of creators on board this book.

Writer, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has made the Archieverse a very scary place. He first stuck gory-gold on Afterlife with Archie and now he’s right back at it with Adventures of Sabrina. Although the titles are not connected, both are making waves in the pages of horror comics. In the initial issue the writer introduces us to an eerie world filled with witches and demons.

Being that title is set in the 60’s it is very important for the artist to make you feel like you are always in that time period. Luckily Robert Hack’s art is like taking a time-machine back to that era.  His work on the initial issue will make you feel as if you are reading an oversized horror magazine from the 60s-70s.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is a title that has the potential to have a very bright future! Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy today.
