Could Blade bring his daughter into the bloody battle?

Milan Ray–a mainstay of The Wonder Years–has joined the growing cast of Marvel Studios’ reboot of the 1998 Wesley Snipes-led Blade feature film, according to a report on The Direct.

Details on the new addition have been very scarce, but it is reported that the young actor will play “a key character” in the remake. Given that, speculation has begun to swirl around the possibility that Ray will portray Blade’s estranged daughter, Fallon Grey. Stay tuned for confirmation of this rumor.

Blade–expected to start shooting July 4 in Atlanta and New Orleans without an announced release date–already has its star in place in Oscar winner Mahershala Ali, along with Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre. The film is directed by Bassam Tariq (Mogul Mowgli) from a screenplay by Stacy Osei-Kuffour (Watchmen).

The reboot–expected to stick close to the source material–will follow Daywalker Eric Brooks, “a half-human, half-vampire who has honed his abilities to hunt down the undead who have long terrorized mankind,” according to the logline.

The original Blade–directed by Stephen Norrington from a screenplay by David S. Goyer–led to Blade II and Blade: Trinity.

The Marvel Comics Blade character–created by writer Marv Wolfman and artist Gene Colan–debuted in 1973 as a supporting character in the award-winning Tomb of Dracula.
