Character Posters Drop For ‘The Last Of Us’ HBO Series

A good way to get up close and personal.

The Last of Us–the small-screen take on the hit video game–will land on HBO Max next month, and while fans wait for a trailer, the station has shared several character posters to introduce the show’s major players. Check out the striking posters on this page.

The 10-episode first season of the much-anticipated show–debuting Jan. 15, 2023–will follow Joel (Pedro Pascal), a smuggler trying to survive in the wake of a terrifying zombie outbreak. He teams up with a girl, Ellie (Bella Ramsey), and they trek across the wasteland of the U.S.–struggling to avoid monsters (and worse) along the way.

The series–led by executive producer and screenwriter Craig Mazin–also stars Gabriel Luna as Joel’s kid brother Tommy; Merle Dandridge, as Marlene, leader of the resistance movement known as the Fireflies; Jeffrey Pierce as Perry, a rebel in the quarantine zone; Anna Tory as Tess, Joel’s smuggling partner; Lamar Johnson as Henry; and Kelvonn Woodard as Sam.

Other cast members include Nick Offerman, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker.

In The Last of Us video game–released for PlayStation 3 in 2013–players use various weapons to defend themselves against hostile humans and cannibalistic creatures infected by a mutant fungus. The game has won several Game of the Year awards.
