Some serious animated horror will liven up the spooky season.
Chainsaw Man–a bloody anime series from Studio MAPPA based on the popular manga–will rip its way onto Crunchyroll starting Oct. 11, according to a report on comicbook.com.
The new series–based on the manga from writer/illustrator Tatsuki Fujimoto–follows a teenager named Denji who is living with “a Chainsaw Devil called Pochita to pay off a debt his father left behind,” according to the synopsis.
Denji lives a meager existence while repaying his debt by harvesting corpses with Pochita “until the day comes when Denji is betrayed and killed.” As his consciousness fades away, “he enters into a contract with Pochita” and is reborn as Chainsaw Man–“a man with a devil’s heart.”
The series–directed by Ryu Nakayama and written by Hiroshi Seko with character design by Kazutaka Sugiyama–has a voice cast that includes Kikunosuke Toya as Denji, Tomori Kusonoki as Makima, Shogo Sakata as Aki Hayakawa and Fairouz Ai as Power.
