Casting News for CW’s ‘The Lost Boys’ Series

by Larry Dwyer

News about the CW pushing out a series reboot of the 1987 classic The Lost Boys has been swirling since at least 2016 with several announcements of pilots ordered and casting developments; well, this time traction actually seems to be being made. We announced a few weeks ago that the CW had once again greenlit a pilot for the on-again/off-again series (read that news here) and now Deadline is reporting some casting news.

Branden Cook (Industry) has been tapped to play Garrett, the “Michael” and older brother of the siblings that move to a new town with their mother. Lincoln Younes (Little Monsters) will be playing Benjamin who leads the vampire gang in the new town. Rounding out the announcements is Ruby Cruz (Castle Rock) as Elsie who will be putting a new spin on the Jamie Gertz character of Star.

As previously reported, this version of The Lost Boys is written by Heather Mitchell (Grey’s Anatomy) and Rob Thomas (iZombie) and will be directed by Marcos Siega (Dexter). The series centers on a mother and her sons who move to the seaside town where she grew up only to discover that there’s a sinister reason the local cool kids sleep all day, party all night, never grow up and never get old.
