“He is here”. Oh yeah. Big time.
Following the recent release of several images and clips from the upcoming Dracula-themed film The Last Voyage of the Demeter, fans can now watch a behind-the scenes featurette with the cast and crew. Check out the revealing video on this page.
As director Andre Ovredal explained, he was trying–with this film–to create “the most horrific, frightening depiction of Dracula.” To accomplish that, he cast Javier Botet in the key role–an actor the director said is both agile “and able to do things that are superhuman.”
The Universal/Dreamworks entry–hitting theaters Aug. 11–also stars Corey Hawkins, Aisling Franciosi, Liam Cunningham, David Dastmalchian, Jo Jo Briones, Stefan Kapicic and Nikolai Nikolaeff.
The film–scripted by Bragi Schut, Stefan Ruzowitsky and Zak Olkewicz–is based on one chapter of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and follows the merchant ship Demeter as it sails to London–laden with 50 unmarked wooden crates. One of these carries a deadly cargo.
Aboard the ship, the crew is stalked by “a merciless presence.” And, when the Demeter finally reaches England, it is a “charred, derelict wreak–with no trace of the crew.”
