Elvira’s alter-ego in Rob Zombie’s vision of The Munsters? What did horror fans do to deserve this treat?
The flamboyant filmmaker/musician has revealed the (long-rumored) role for Cassandra Peterson, just one day after his film reboot of the popular ’60’s TV show received an unusual PG rating. Check out Peterson in her new persona in a Zombie Instagram post–courtesy of JoBlo.com–on this page.

Peterson, as explained, will play Barbara Carr in the film, a woman described as “the No. 1 real estate agent in all of Mockingbird Heights.” No doubt the vampy campy actress could sell just about anything she put her mind to.
Peterson joins Jeff Daniel Phillips as Herman, Sheri Moon Zombie as Lily, Daniel Roebuck as Grandpa, Sylvester McCoy as Igor, Richard Brake as Dr. Henry Augustus Wolfgang, Catherine Shell as Zoya Krupp and Jorge Garcia as Floop.
As for the relatively mild PG rating (this is the first Zombie film not rated R), the director said, “For those of you speculating, wondering and assuming that The Munsters would be dirty, violent and nasty–well, you are wrong. It’s all good down on Mockingbird Lane.” Will wonders never cease?
The Munsters–shooting in Budapest–does not yet have a release date, but is expected to land in theaters (and maybe Peacock) sometime this year.
The TV series that inspired the film–which ran on CBS for 70 episodes from 1964-1965–starred Fred Gwynne as Herman, Yvonne De Carlo as Lily and Al Lewis as Grandpa, with Butch Patrick as son Eddie and Beverley Owen (later replaced by Pat Priest) as niece Marilyn.
