Cassady McClincy Joins Cast of ‘The Walking Dead’ as Lydia

by John Evans

AMC will be adding a popular character from The Walking Dead comic book to its hit television show in the wake of the departure of Rick and Carl Grimes from the program. The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Lydia- the daughter of The Whisperers’ leader, Alpha (Samantha Morton)- will appear in Season Nine of the show. The Whisperer’s gimmick is that they wear Buffalo Bill style human skin suits to avoid being detected by zombies and human adversaries. Lydia will be played by Cassady McClincy. McClincy recently appeared in the movie, Love, Simon, and her recent horror resume includes roles in Lore and Castle Rock.

In the comic book, Lydia and Carl are thrown into a sort-of Romeo & Juliet situation in the midst of a clash between The Whisperers and the series regulars. Her role on the show will obviously have to be different seeing as Carl’s been dead for an entire season at this point… but she’s likely going to still have to wear a skin suit.

Fans won’t have to wait long to learn the details of Lydia’s role in the upcoming season of The Walking Dead; the season premieres on October 7th, 2018. Stay tuned to Horror News Network for breaking news on the upcoming season as soon as it breaks!
