Bryan Fuller No Longer Involved in ‘Friday the 13th’ Prequel Series

by Rob Caprilozzi

“You see, Jason was my son, and today is his birthday.”

That collective sigh you hear is from Friday the 13th fans trying to keep hope alive.

In October 2022 we reported that Peacock greenlit a Friday the 13th prequel series called Crystal Lake. What made the news even better was the fact that Bryan Fuller was set to serve as writer, showrunner and executive producer. In addition, the original final girl of Friday the 13th, Adrienne King, was set for a recurring role.

After a long while with no updates, Fuller took to Instagram, which can be seen below to talk about what was happened with the series. “For reasons beyond our control, A24 has elected to go a different way with the material,” said Fuller. “We hope the final product will be something Friday the 13th fans all over the world will enjoy.”

With A24 retooling the series, we aren’t quite sure what to expect at this time. Keep it locked to Horror News Network for more on Friday the 13th.
