The miniseries–illustrated by Eduardo Risso–begins in Berlin, 1944, when Hitler and his scientists have “created a serum that resurrects their dead soldiers, creating an army of the dead stronger than they were in life,” according to the synopsis.

Sgt. Rock and Easy Company “find themselves dispatched into enemy territory to face the most horrific enemies they’ve ever encountered–Nazi zombies.”

The premiere issue of the series–slated for comic book shops Sept. 27–features a main cover from Gary Frank, and variant covers from Frank Quitely, Francesco Francavilla, Charlie Adlard, Chris Mooneyham and Pia Guerra.

The Sgt. Rock character has been a mainstay of DC Comics since 1959, when writer Robert Kanigher and artist Joe Kubert created the intrepid soldier for Our Army at War No. 83.
