Will the evil dead rise more often in the future?
With Evil Dead Rise–the latest chapter in the classic horror franchise–set to hit theaters tomorrow, April 21, thoughts are already turning towards the future of the series. A future that may materialize sooner rather than later.
Evil Dead Rise producer (and legacy star) Bruce Campbell–during a recent interview with AV Club–said that the stories “will progress a little more now. We’re going to try to do them every two or three years rather than every 10 years.”
Campbell added that Sam Raimi is working on “an overall Bible that will give future writers and directors an idea of where this thing should go next to potentially tie in with other stories. So, I think it’s going to get a little more tied in as the years go by.”
The actor also said these future stories are “all about the books now. It’s not about Ash or any other character. We know there are three books out there, and none of them is any good. It’s about where that book winds up, who gets it and what happens.”
Evil Dead Rise–from writer/director Lee Cronin–stars Alyssa Sutherland, Lily Sullivan, Gabrielle Echols, Morgan Davies and Nell Fisher in a story of two sisters and their encounter with one of those books.
