The six-episode first season of the Manhattan-based show–led by showrunner Eli Jorne–will hit AMC in April 2023 (no exact date has yet been announced), with Jeffrey Dean Morgan reprising his role as Negan and Lauren Cohan again playing Maggie–alongside newcomer Gaius Charles in an undetermined role.
The show–expected to wrap shooting in New Jersey later this month–is set in the ruins of the Big Apple that is “filled with the dead–and with those who have made the city their own world of anarchy, danger, beauty and terror,” according to the logline.
Executive producer Scott M. Gimple described this future vision of Manhattan as “chaotic. It has its own cultures and its own warring factions. It’s a madhouse, and Maggie and Negan enter it and get swept up in it.”
